CUMBRIANS are being invited to take part in a national study which uses genetic information to reveal the history of the British Isles.
Newcastle University researchers need more than 200 people of Cumbrian descent to donate blood samples for their project, which aims to use genetic information to find out more about how different people migrated and mixed to make up the British Isles we know today.
Potential volunteers are being asked to attend the Family and Regional History Fair at the Rheged Centre near Penrith on Saturday (May 19) to find out more about the research and donate a blood sample.
They should be able to trace all four of their grandparents to the same geographical area in Cumbria or the Scottish Borders.
