ONE of the country's best loved and longest running television programmes is bringing its massive production to Furness for its new series.
BBC TV's Antiques Roadshow, which regularly attracts millions of viewers, will take over the Coronation Hall, in Ulverston, on October 11, a spokesman confirmed yesterday (Thursday).
Ulverston town councillor Norman Bishop-Rowe said the event would be good for Ulverston.
"It's a wonderful thing. A wonderful boost for the town. It's a superb vindication of all the staff at the Coronation Hall who worked so hard throughout the year.
"It's such a beautiful venue and it deserves to host such a popular programme."
Standard procedure for filming is that doors will be open for most of the morning and afternoon, allowing everyone who queues the chance to talk to an expert about their objects.
Tickets are not needed but people will be directed to join the appropriate queue for porcelain, furniture, pictures, jewellery, silver, clocks and watches, arms and militaria, books or miscellaneous.
If chosen to be featured on the programme, the person will be whisked away to a waiting room for make up before the cameras roll.
