RESCUE teams came to the aid of a local woman after her attempts to rescue her dog from the side of an Ingleton waterfall ended in failure.
Police said the woman, who was in her mid-20s, and her Labrador had to be pulled from a ledge using ropes after being stranded by Waterfalls Walk.
The woman had been walking her dog when it fell over the side of the waterfall and landed on a ledge. She climbed over and attempted to rescue it but ended up getting stuck herself.
Volunteers from Clapham Cave Rescue managed to hoist the woman and her dog out of the gorge using ropes.
Duty controller Jon Beavan said the volunteers were called out at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, May 8 and escorted them both to safety by 9.50pm.
