CUSTOMERS at Brough Post Office have already helped post mistress Pat Jones collect more than £400 in sponsorship to run through London at midnight in her bra - in aid of a national breast cancer charity.
Last year Pat joined her daughter Emma; Kirkby Thore post mistress Brenda Thompson, her daughter Gail and the 15,000 other power walkers in the first Moonwalk for breast cancer care in Scotland. The four women together raised £2,300 for the charity. Now Pat and Emma are in their final two weeks of preparation, and are increasing their efforts not only in their training but also in their collection of sponsors.
This week Pat received her official Moonwalk bra, which she will decorate, and her running number for the tenth anniversary Moonwalk in London on May 19 in which she hopes to raise more money for Breast Cancer Care.
Pat began training for her last Moonwalk after two operations and radiotherapy following a routine mammary scan showing up pre-cancer cells. The women believe the Moonwalk is not only an important fund-raiser for the charity but also helps raise awareness of the disease.
