Back Home', the Anfield Rap' and World in Motion' - three famous football songs and now there is a fourth...with a good cause the end result.
The footballers of Morecambe FC have got together to record that cup final essential - and profits from their football song Down at Christie Park (we're going up) will boost a Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen campaign.
The Shrimps, who will play at Wembley Stadium later this month as they chase a place in the Football League, swapped their boots and shorts for song sheets and microphones yesterday to sing for the Citizen's Bring Back Jake campaign.
And the song, penned by Neil Hunter, will be on sale by the end of the week.
Says club director Stephen Wright: "The campaign is a great cause and it is a good combination with a song for the Wembley game as well."
All of the star Shrimps, including manager Sammy McIlroy and assistant Mark Lillis, were exercising their vocal chords at Lancaster Music Co-Op - and they were all of the opinion it will be a big hit.
