A 41-YEAR-old man from Birmingham was taken to hospital after a serious crash on the M6 early this morning.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle suffering with back and abdominal injuries.
The collision happened on the southbound carriageway at Hardendale near Shap at around 3am.
The man's red Vauxhall Astra left the carriageway and collided with an over bridge support pillar.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Mobile Support Group at Kendal on 101.
