IN TWO weeks' time, 2,000 women are set to descend on South Lakeland to help raise a staggering sum for charity.
Cancer Research UK's massive Race for Life event is coming to Crooklands on May 20, and the organisers are urging women of all ages to join the 5km walk or run, to help smash their fund-raising records.
It's the fifth year the race has been held at the site of the Westmorland County Showground and, in the past, thousands of pounds have been raised for the national charity, which carries out research into the prevention, treatment and cures of cancer.
Organisers have set a target of £121,000 locally, although with dozens of races taking place across the country, the national total is set to top £60 million.
If you would like to raise money for Cancer Research UK by taking part in the 5km Race for Life, you can find out more by calling 08705-134314 or by logging on to www.raceforlife.org .
