MICHAEL Twiss says he is delighted to be back in a Morecambe shirt after an injury nightmare that threatened to wreck his season.
The 29-year-old star - the best player outside the Football League - is chomping at the bit to steer the Shrimps to glory and his recovery from a knee injury is like a new signing for boss Sammy McIlroy.
Twiss played for 84 minutes of Saturday's 1-0 win over Grays Athletic as he returned after missing 16 games since damaging medial ligaments in the defeat at Gravesend and Northfleet back in February. And he was more than happy with his return.
"It's great to be back," Twiss tells the Citizen. "It has been a horrible 16 games. I don't like watching and I am happy to be fit again and ready to make up for lost time.
"It was important for me to play some part on Saturday and I am ready for the play-offs now. I was a bit rusty for a while but I thought I did okay after I got into the game and I really enjoyed it."
The talismanic Twiss is now ready to repay the fans - and he says they can make a difference to the team.
"Our fans are top class. They are brilliant at home and away and it was really good to get a great reception off them on Saturday," he smiles.
"I want to perform for them - we want to do it for the fans."
