MICHAEL Twiss could make a dramatic return to the Morecambe squad on Saturday handing boss Sammy McIlroy a massive boost as he chases a place in the Football League.
Twiss was expected to be ruled out for the season after damaging his knee at Gravesend in February and then suffering a reaction after a tentative comeback in the reserve team.
But the talismanic Twiss could now feature against Grays Athletic at the weekend if he suffers no reaction to a run-out for the reserves.
"If Twissy comes back it will be like signing a new player," says McIlroy.
"I thought he had gone for the season but has worked hard and it would be a real bonus if he could be fit for some part of Saturday, especially with play-offs coming up."
With those play-offs in mind winger Garry Thompson could be an absentee for Saturday.
"Thommo has a bit of a tight hamstring," adds McIlroy. "We will take a look at him but there is no point taking any silly risks."
