Bowdon 31
VALE OF LUNE 30
VALE of Lune's Powergen North Two West season ended on a flat note when they saw they 30-17 lead wiped out by relegated Bowdon as coach John Morgan bowed out on a low note.
It looked as though Vale were rising to the occasion to give the popular Morgan a happy send off as they took control against the 14 men of Bowdon.
But two late converted tries from the home side left Vale frustrated.
Vale led 11-10 at half time with a try from James Knox and two penalty goals from Andy Garnett.
A dust up just before the break resulted in a Bowdon player being sent off and one despatched to the sin bin for a cooling off spell.
Vale took full advantage by rattling in two tries from James Bryan and Alistair Richards, both converted by the reliable boot of Garnett.
A second try from Richards extended the visitor's lead to 30-17 with eight minutes of proper time remaining and it appeared the locals were going to celebrate.
But a fired up Bowdon side rocked the Vale with a rousing conclusion.
To add to the depression for the Vale, Luke Ford was carried off with concussion while Ashley Bolsover finished up in hospital with a foot injury.
VALE of Lune: A Miller; J Bryan, R Thorn, A Garnett, A Richards; N Bennetts, A Bolsover; P Jackson, D Schuyler (M Huntington 55), A Cowey; J Knox, D Perry; L Ford (D Halliwell 36), A Whittaker, M Fowler.
