CARNIVAL crowds were treated to a theme of ‘Tales from the Riverbank’ in Bentham on Saturday.
The day began at Bentham Railway Station, where Carnival Queen Sophie Leigh Barrett disembarked from the train, before taking a walk around Bentham to meet her 'subjects'.
Other highlights from the day included storytelling by Rough Magic Theatre, with local author Tim Austin debuting three new short stories about life and fantastical events on the River Wenning.

The town was also treated to a vibrant mix of street entertainment, live music, and a carnival procession featuring colourful dragonflies, birds and fish.
Cars, decorated by their owners, were parked around the town and people were invited to vote for their favourite.
The festivities went on into the evening with performances from local bands in and outside High Bentham pubs.
