A CASH windfall to revive the economic fortunes of Grange-over-Sands has been welcomed by councillors.
A large chunk of the £100,000 boost will be used to undertake a comprehensive survey looking at the town as a whole and how it can be improved.
Grange councillor Bill Wearing said the South Lakeland District Council cash would go some way to overcome the major loss of amenities in the coastal town over the last 12 months.
"Doing nothing in this particular area is not an option for Grange," he told a full council meeting on Tuesday.
The money will help address a number of issues including the derelict lido, the removal of railway footbridges, the closed Berners Pool and the 3Ps' Heritage Lottery Bid.
The funding has been made possible because SLDC received a larger grant than expected from the Department of Communities and Local Government.
A £5,000 contribution will be made to the Time and Tide project.
SLDC chief executive Mike Jones said officers would be working closely with Grange Town Council and added that it was a "really good step forward" for the town.
