AN ELDERLY motorist had to be taken to hospital following a crash near Windermere.
The collision occurred on the A591 at the junction of Thwaites Lane, near Windermere at around 11.20am on Thursday and involved a red Ford Escort which was being driven by a 27 year old from Windermere and red Rover which was being driven by a 73 year old man from Ambleside.
The man was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary suffering from minor injuries.
The collision caused disruption to traffic travelling in both directions while the cars were recovered by emergency services.
