A PAIR of Cumbrian companies has been awarded contracts to carry out work as the £75 million redevelopment of K Village begins in earnest.
Kendal Riverside Ltd, the partnership behind the scheme, has announced the appointment of two local companies to undertake specialist preliminary works.
L. & W. Wilson, a civil engineering and demolition specialist based in Gatebeck, near Kendal, has been awarded the tender to carry out all the pre-demolition works across the 4.8-acre site.
This will involve the carefully controlled stripping out of any potentially hazardous materials, and the removal of oil tanks and other fuel and water storage systems.
This will be done in line with procedures previously agreed with the Environment Agency and other statutory bodies, and it is expected to take about four weeks.
