Westmorland and Lonsdale Green Party candidate Chris Loynes is backing calls for a unitary authority for Cumbria.
He said: “In Cumbria we are confused by too many layers of local government. It would be more straightforward to have a unitary authority that devolves more powers to local level – parish and town councils.”
