SAMMY McIlroy says Morecambe's destiny is in their own hands despite a topsy-turvy month, which has taken on the impression of a roller-coaster ride towards the play-offs.
The Shrimps have lost three and won three of their games so far in mad March and boss McIlroy says: "It's been like a ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, one minute you are up and the next minute you are down.
"It's been an unbelievable month with so many games - but the play-offs are still in our own hands and I believe things will go down to the last match of the season."
The Shrimps crashed 2-1 at Burton Albion on Saturday despite a dominant performance, which was undone by two mistakes to gift the Brewers both their goals.
"We have to be smarter," adds McIlroy. "We are not making sides work for their goals yet it doesn't seem to happen the other way. We have to work for our goals.
"That said, we deserved something from Saturday's game but that's gone now and we have to pick ourselves up.
"We have an important home game against Woking on Saturday and that is a game we need to get the points from.
"I am not too bothered about what other teams are doing. It is down to us to get the points we need to make the play-offs."
After Saturday's clash with Woking is the long trip to St Albans City next Tuesday.
"It's a hard schedule," adds McIlroy. "And then it is Easter coming right up so there is no let up."
Michael Howard (hip) is back in training and could return for Saturday.
