Internationally renowned speaker, writer and environmental campaigner Satish Kumer will be visiting St Martin's College Ambleside, tomorrow (March 28. Mr Kumer will be giving a talk to the outdoor studies students at 2pm as part of an ongoing series of bi-annual lectures organised by the college.
The talk called 'The Noble Art of walking' will focus on Mr Kumer's own environmental views as well as his famous 'peace walks'- the first of which covered 8,000 miles to carry tea as a peace message to world leaders in India, Russia, the USA and the UK. His second took place on his 50th birthday covering 2,000 miles to various holy sites in the UK.
Dr Kate Rawles, Lecturer in Outdoor Studies at St Martin's said: "Satish Kumar is a nationally and internationally renowned figure in relation to sustainable development, environmental issues and, of course, education. It is a real privilege to have him as a speaker in the Outdoor Studies lecure series and an honour to welcome him to St Martin's."
