Contact: Thirteen Senses (Mercury)
We are lucky to be experiencing a great period in rock history with so many decent bands out there producing excellent music.
People will look back on 2007 and remember it for bands like The Killers, The Fray, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Arcade fire and a host of others.
Thirteen Senses now look set to join that elite group.
Contact includes 11 finely-crafted and uplifting tracks which look likely to push Thirteen Senses to lofty heights.
There are some clear influences. Coldplay are the strongest but, with its ethereal guitar work and bids for epic grandeur, there are occasional hints of 1970s supergroup Genesis, while closing track Ones and Zeros has shades of Pink Floyd's The Division Bell. At other times a slightly beefier Lightning Seeds springs to mind.
Memorable hooks and melodies abound throughout on an album which is beautifully produced. Highlights include All The Love In Your Hands (reminsiscent of Gene's sound), Animal and the wistful Spirals.
Thirteen Senses clearly have a very bright future.
