West Coast Main Line between Preston and Carlisle at Easter weekend will not be affected by engineering work, as earlier thought.
It was originally expected that Virgin Trains serving Lancaster, Oxenholme and Penrith would have to be replaced by road coaches between Preston and Carlisle on Saturday 7 April and Sunday 8 April.
However, Virgin Trains will run instead on this section of the route all day on Saturday 7 April and after 1500 hours on Sunday 8 April, in spite of coaches being shown in timetables which were printed earlier.
Engineering work north of Preston will still be required at other weekends before and after Easter. Between 6 and 9 April work will affect trains further south that would normally run through Rugby.
