A £220,000 scheme to improve safety on the A65 near Austwick, in North Yorkshire, starts on Monday (March 26).
The project will include installing new cat's eyes on the road, which runs between South Lakeland and North Yorkshire, as well as improving the road markings and traffic signs.
Work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am each week night on the 1.8 mile section of road between Rawlinshaw and the Bawsber Plantation.
Highways Agency project manager Martyn Cox said: "The Highways Agency's highest priority is the safety of drivers on our roads. Our aim is to improve driving conditions for motorists and make this stretch of busy road as safe as possible.
"The work will be carried out overnight when traffic flows are low, however, we would advise drivers to allow some extra time for overnight journeys."
Motorists will be led through the works in convoy under a 10mph speed limit between 8pm and 6am. A 40mph speed limit will be in place at all other times until the scheme is completed in mid April.
