KENDAL College is considering a plan which could see it expand part of its operation into the town's museum.

Principal Graham Wilkinson said that the idea was at a very early stage but, if it went ahead, the college could offer qualifications in cultural heritage, or running a museum, filling a gap that exists in the county.

The college runs its creative arts centre from the Allen Building, on Beezon Road, which, like the Kendal Museum building on Station Road, is owned by Kendal Town Council.

Mr Wilkinson said that an Ofsted report had indicated that there was a need to improve some of the college's accommodation.

The Allen Building had some areas that needed improvements, and one idea was to expand into the neighbouring museum.
