THE decision to allow a controversial housing development to be built in Kendal could force people to move out of a nearby estate, according to a former councillor.
A Government planning inspector has granted developer Russell Armer permission to build 94 homes on greenfield land to the north east of the Sandylands estate, following a public enquiry into the scheme in November last year.
South Lakeland District Council's planning committee voted eight to four in favour of the scheme in March last year, but it was called in for a decision to be made by the Secretary of State in May.
The development consists of 47 affordable homes with the rest being sold on the open market with a local occupancy provision.
