CHILDREN had to be evacuated from a Kendal school due to a gas leak in the boiler room of the building.
Staff at Sandgate School, Kendal, had to initiate an emergency evacuation procedure after a teacher noticed a smell of gas coming from one of the outbuildings at around 9am on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters and Transco gas engineers attended the scene but children and staff had to be evacuated to nearby Sandylands Methodist Church while the cause of the problem was identified.
