Buildings in Appleby could be puttting on a more attractive face to help boost tourism and the economy of the town, reports Amdrew Daniels.
Concern has been growing about dilapidated buildings in Appleby and town councillors are trying to encourage some civic pride ahead of the peak time for visitors.
Councillors have undertaken a survey of buildings that could be in need of a spruce up but are conscious many are working buildings and they do not want to single any out in particular.
"A number of people over a period of time had brought to our attention buildings they thought should be looked at," explained town councillor Ian Potts.
"We will look at them and officers from Eden District Council will be coming to meet us and see what action can be taken if necessary."
A working party of town councillors will meet Eden District Council on Monday (March 19).
