SAMMY McIlroy is delighted with his grafting Shrimps after they completed a tough eight-day schedule with another grinding home win.

Morecambe beat Crawley to claim their sixth Christie Park win of the season thanks to a cracking goal from Garry Thompson and McIlroy enthused: "It was a super goal from Thommo and to be truthful we could have had a lot more.

"If Crawley had gone home beaten five or six they couldn't have complained - but the win is the most important thing.

"We have not been at our best at home this season for whatever reason and some people were calling it a crisis.

"There has been no crisis. We have had too many draws - but that is not a crisis.

"We have now won two on the spin at home and are playing well - but this is a hard month."

It is a mad, mad March with nine games in 28 days, testing the squad to the limits and the manager adds: "There is no let-up with so many games and it is a real test for the players.

"But there is nothing we can do about and we just have to get on with the matches and try to get through the month and get as many points on the board as we can."
