A MULTI-AGENCY operation to crack down on a recent spate of anti-social behaviour is to be held in Windermere.
The Streetsafe Operation will see police, fire officers, councillors and representatives of local organisations visit 150 houses in the Broad Street, Ellerthwaite Square, Holly Road and Library Gardens areas of the town to listen to the concerns of residents.
PC Chris Isherwood, of Kendal COPS, said: "We are hoping to get some information about those who are responsible for the anti-social behaviour in this area of the town and find out what other problems residents may have.
"We held a similar operation in November when we concentrated on another area of the town, which was successful. People quite often tell us more about what the problems are in this situation and they are more forthcoming than they would be if they had to visit the police themselves."
The operation, which will take place today (Wednesday), will see groups of three individuals visit different houses and ask residents to complete a questionnaire relating to the issues of anti-social behaviour along with other issues, such as speeding cars.
"All the information we collect is evaluated and sent to the agency that can deal with it," said PC Isherwood.
"Some people may have other concerns like speeding cars or housing issues or they might need a fire alarm installed. We got all sorts of information back after the last operation."
