A FIRE broke out at Westmorland General Hospital's nurse's residence at about 1.10pm today (Friday), causing extensive damage to a first floor flat.
Two fire engines from Kendal attended the incident and firefighters used two hose reels, four sets of breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera at the scene.
The flat was unoccupied at the time of the incident and the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
