PLANS to demolish a 38-bedroom Grasmere hotel and redevelop it to four- star standard have been knocked back by development chiefs.
Members of the Lake District National Park Authority development control committee refused planning permission for the scheme, which would have seen a new 75-bedroom extension added to the Swan Hotel, on Keswick Road.
The application was submitted by the MacDonald Hotels Group and also included extensions to the existing restaurant and rear car park, tree removal and refuse area relocation.
