CUMBRIAN readers have an insatiable appetite for books by celebrity authors, according to figures from the county's libraries.
Cumbria County Council's library service has published a list of the county's most borrowed books. Sir Richard Branson's motivational book Screw it, let's do it, topped the list of the most read non-fiction titles during the last year.
Several other celebrity authors appeared in the top ten non-fiction list, including former Eastenders star Daniella Westbrook and X-Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.
The most borrowed fiction title was the adventure novel Labyrinth by Kate Mosse and other best-selling authors in the top ten fiction list included Ruth Rendell and Jeffrey Archer.
CCC cabinet member responsible for the library service Roger Bingham said: "These statistics provide a fascinating glimpse into the county's reading habits as well as demonstrating the sheer breadth of titles available to borrow in the Cumbria's libraries."
