The Shrimps, without a win on their own patch this year, got their season back on track with a marvellous 3-1 win at Forest Green Rovers last Saturday.
And they have the chance to capitalise against the lowly Saints.
"It will not be easy," says McIlroy. "There are no easy games and it is the start of a hard month - but I want us to kick on from last weekend.
"We have to get the home form back on track and it has baffled me how and why we haven't won at home this year.
"The form at Christie Park is a complete reversal of what we are achieving away and I can't work out why.
"But we must put it right."
Skipper Jim Bentley and Ged Brannan are available again after suspension while Chris Blackburn could return as he nears fitness after a knee injury.
