THE saying "one person's rubbish is another person's treasure" is behind a new internet-based group that has just been launched in the Eden Valley The Penrith and Eden Freecycle group helps people get rid of unwanted items by allowing them to post details on the group's website which can be accessed by other members who can then decide if they want to take it off their hands, hence keeping the item out of landfill sites.
The group, which has more than 100 members, was set up by Bampton resident Chris Cant who managed to find a good home for an unwanted computer.
Members can also post "wanted" messages for items they may want or need. To join, email PenrithEdenFreecycle-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
