ONE of the most enthralling of battles for Premier Division supremacy in recent seasons saw another day of drama, twists and turns with the title race still too close to call.

Long-time leaders TIC Dynamos are still on top of the tree - but they slipped again as they could only manage a draw with mid-table Kirkby Lonsdale.

Darren True scored again for Dynamos and Simon Marshall joined him on the scoresheet - but Kenny Balmer's penalty and a goal from the evergreen Brian Pennington shared the spoils.

Second-placed Highgrove were inactive and reigning champions Storeys probably wished they hadn't bothered beating the rain.

Morecambe Royals went ballistic to win 4-0 as goals from Steve Backhouse, Gareth Holmes, Matthew Armistead and Darren Briggs shattered Storeys.

That slip allowed Marsh United to move into third spot as they beat Boys Club 2-0 courtesy of goals from Alan Coulton and Vernon Middleton, while Torrisholme's tough season continued with a 2-1 loss at Galgate.

Division One leaders Carnforth Rangers hit the goal trail as they beat Vine 4-0 thanks largely to Lee Watson's brace, while Storeys Reserves did their own title hopes no harm as they beat Cartmel 2-1.

Grant Perkins bagged a brace and Scott Sparks scored the other as Lancaster City Council beat Community Sports 3-2 and Marsh Reserves eased past Slyne Reserves 3-0.

Halton Rangers maintained the pressure on Division Two leaders Morecambe Hoops as Liam Jeffries hit a hat-trick in a 6-1 bowling over of Morecambe Cricket Club. Tom Lund, Stuart Gordon and Steven Hey joined Jeffries on the scoresheet, Torrisholme reserves edged out Freehold 3-2, while Bolton-le-Sands beat Middleton 3-1 and Caton United reserves drew 2-2 with Arnside.

Division Three leaders Furness Rovers crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Gregson as goals from Michael Moore and Michael Clegg were enough to cancel out James McNally's strike, while Moorlands were robbed of a rare point as Steve Kitchen's own goal cost them against Grange reserves.

Division Four leaders Heysham stretched their advantage to nine points over Overton, who have two games in hand, when they beat Carnforth reserves 3-0 thanks to goals from Scott Moore, Alan Campbell and Lee Rendall.

Heysham and Overton meet on Saturday with the winners putting themselves in the box seat for the title.
