THE operation to remove train carriages from the crash scene could take days due to the remote location, at Grayrigg, say investigators.
British Transport Police said it was impossible to say when the Virgin Pendolino train could be removed due to the "logistical nightmare" of getting heavy lifting equipment onto farmland.
Construction work continued this afternoon as an access road is created for cranes to reach the site.
An interim report into the accident is expected this afternoon (Monday).
