RIDING: Katie Heginbotham of Barrows Green notched a winning double and a runner-up rosette in the working hunter sections and also took novice champion at the Paul Billington Memorial Show held at Myerscough near Preston.
Katie rode the six-year-old gelding Chiddock Spot On to those working hunter successes and also collected a third with Whineray Beach Boy.
Her younger sister Sassy recorded second and third rosettes with Roseisle Bridegroom.
Alasdair Prickett from Farleton had a second in the novice show hunter pony and gave a superb display of galloping to clinch the championship riding his new five-year-old mare Uppacott Extravaganza. The reserve went to Victoria Brooks of Holme on Orielton Audition.
The Dartmoor pony Dykes Countrymead, bred by Casterton teacher Anne Rigby and ridden by Elle Morton, took a mini moorland and mountain championship, while Anna Metcalf of Killington had a second with Maxwelltown Meric.
Lanbrigg's James Knipe took two seconds with Fox Formula and a third with Wellkins, while Kate Watson rode Exmoor pony Brether to a good win in her working section.
Casterton pupil Alex Peill scored a winning double at BSPS Area 18 Show on Wychenlea Act of Honour in the show hunter, while Yealand Prophet, bred by Babs Ruchwaldy and ridden by Holly Thompson, took the reserve novice show hunter.
n Paul Billington, who died of cancer last year, built working hunter courses and judged in the area for many years, including at the BSPS Area 1 B Shows and the local BSJA Shows. The show was in aid of McMillan Nurses and prostate cancer charities.
