A NEW phase of works is to start on the £35.3 High and Low Newton bypass on Monday (February 26) that will mean traffic is reduced to one lane on part of the A590 until the middle of March.
Engineers need to repair and re-route several phone cables under the A590 meaning there will be single lane traffic controlled by temporary traffic lights between Newby Bridge and High Newton.
The current 40mph restriction will remain in force on the A590 through the villages of High and Low Newton for the safety of drivers and the workers while the work is carried out.
