I have to say goodbye.

I've weighed it up and sadly this will be my last homeworking blog. In the New Year I took stock, made my resolutions, as you do. As homeworkers, maybe, do more than most - once you're not on the treadmill, it's easier to stop yourself rotating occasionally and reflect on where you've got to.

More and more of my notional working time last year became what you might call speculative. I've been wanting to do more of my own' writing - you know, creative stuff. It's not earned me any money yet, quite possibly never will. But if I don't give it a decent shot now I'll always regret it. At present I'm old enough to have a financial cushion - and young enough still to be able to string a word or two together without dozing off.

However, this makes me something of a dilettante homeworker. There are times over the last year when I've felt a bit of a fraud with this blog. I've wondered if it should be titled not so much Homeworking Blog' as Blog about someone who doesn't go out to work but occasionally earns some money from home'. Not, I guess, a typical homeworker.

In any case, since my New Year review of priorities, I've been finding it difficult to fit my blog in. I always intended it to be at least weekly, or readers soon stop checking in to see if you've said anything new. These days that's not really working as planned.

So I'm reluctantly bowing out. My thanks to Kate Whiteside at the Gazette for her support over the last few months. And you never know, maybe I'll be reincarnated one day. How about Writer's Blog - what you come up with when you're suffering Writer's Block?!

Meanwhile, to all you homeworkers out there - more power to your elbow! I wish you every success. May your distractions be few and your productivity immense!
