A FARMING family who aim to give visitors to South Lakeland a real taste of the country has been honoured in a national competition to find the best of British rural retailers.
Low Sizergh Barn, near Kendal, has been named as one of Britain's top farm diversifications, in a national competition organised by the Countryside Alliance.
The 250-acre dairy farm, which is run by husband and wife team John and Marjorie Park, along with son and daughter Richard and Alison, won a highly commended certificate, in the farm diversification section of the Best Rural Retailers Competition.
Low Sizergh, which includes a café, farm shop as well as fruit and vegetable growing schemes, also won first prize in the competition's farm diversification category.
The family, who first opened their farm shop in 1991 and their tearoom the next year, is no stranger to success, winning a wealth of accolades over the past couple of years.
