THE long-running saga of finding a home for a tribute to one of the all-time comedy greats has moved a step closer to being resolved.
A statue depicting Ulverston's very own Stan Laurel, with his partner Oliver Hardy, has been gathering dust in a foundry in London for several months because of indecision over where to site the monument.
But it is hoped a meeting being held next Wednesday between Ulverston and Low Furness Market Town Initiative, and Ulverston 2000, a group consisting of councillors and community group members, could help pave the way to a solution.
To find out where the statue could be sited, see the February 16 edition of The Westmorland Gazette.
