THE language gap between Polish and English families is being bridged thanks to a new scheme at a Ulverston's Dale Street Infant School.
Teachers and governors there came up with the idea of holding regular meetings for parents of Polish children at the school, with an interpreter, and the monthly sessions, which began just before Christmas, have been a huge success.
Chair of governors Brenda Marr said: "A lot of parents cannot speak English and they find it very helpful. A lot of the children at the school have picked up words really easily. It's amazing how quickly they are learning."
