Hundreds of people are being lined up to take part in trials aimed at testing the alleged healing qualities of a South Lakeland spring water.
Property tycoon Brian Scowcroft, who bought Flookburgh business Lakeland Willow Water last year, has commissioned the scientific study in a bid to back up the countless anecdotal evidence about the bottled water.
A total of 800 people will take part in the six-month trial, due to start in May, in which they will drink one-and-a-half litres of Willow Water every day instead of tap water.
It comes after the company received hundreds of unsolicited testimonials from people with skin and muscular skeletal conditions who claimed their problems had been greatly eased by drinking Willow Water.
