FOOTBALL: Defending champions Wetheriggs United beat Lunesdale United 3-1 in the only first division match played in the Talbot Insurance Westmorland Football League on Saturday.
It means saw the Penrith-based side cut the gap to long-time leaders Kendal County to three points after playing the same number of matches.
Ambleside United moved into third place in second division after holding second-placed Carvetii United to a 1-1 draw in the second division.
Carvetii are five points adrift of Kendal County Reserves at the top of the table but have three matches in hand.
Results round-up: Div 1: Wetheriggs Utd 3, Lunesdale Utd 1.
Div 2: Ambleside Utd 1, Carvetii Utd 1.
Div 3: Endmoor 0, Dent 4.
Div 4: Staveley Utd Res 2, Windermere SC A 3.
All other matches were postponed because of unfit pitches.
