Anyone intending to stand as a candidate in May’s local elections is being advised to submit their nomination papers well before the deadline of 4pm on Thursday, April 9, says South Lakeland District Council.
Notices of Election for the scheduled district and parish elections on May 7, in around a third of South Lakeland, have been published along with a Notice for a Cumbria County Council by-election for the Cartmel Electoral Division on the same day.
This means that nomination papers can now be submitted by anyone wishing to stand for election. These papers are available from the Returning Officer at South Lakeland District Council, local political party agentsand relevant parish clerks.

As the time allowed for submission of these papers is short, if anyone wishes to stand as a candidate they arebeing strongly advised to complete and submit their nomination papers as soon as possible.
