A retired priest from Kendal has become one of the first cancer patients in the UK to undergo a new treatment as part of a world-wide trial.
David Woods, 67, is receiving treatment at Royal Preston Hospital and has been accepted on to the trial that is aimed at finding a treatment for advanced prostate cancer.
Royal Preston Hospital, which houses Lancashire and south Cumbria's specialist Rosemere Cancer Centre, is one of only four places in England to be involved in the trial that will test the effectiveness of a prostate cancer vaccine used during chemotherapy.
