A NEW campaign to encourage people living in Cumbria to recycle more of their waste has been launched in the county.
John Craven (pictured) the presenter of BBC's Countryfile programme, officially endorsed Resource Cumbria's Recycle for Cumbria campaign. Resource Cumbria is the strategic waste partnership made up of the Cumbria's seven councils and focuses on reusing, recycling and reducing waste.
The nine-month green push includes a number of activities, including roadshows around the county, a junk-art competition and a Cumbria-wide golf championship, the final of which is being held during Recycling for Cumbria Week in June.
Mr Craven launched the campaign at the Flusco Household Waste Recycling Centre at Penrith, the county's flagship waste recycling site.
Three recycling rangers are also being recruited by Resource Cumbria, to offer doorstep advice to Cumbria residents wondering how they can recycle more of their household waste.
