A NEW wind turbine in a Furness village is helping power a business park.
The 61-metre turbine has been installed at Lindal Business Park in Lindal-in-Furness following £1.4m in funding support from NatWest.
The park is owned by JT Rawlinson and Sons, run by Chris Rawlinson and his father David, which has progressed from farming to constructing and running the business park and its 96-seater on-site cafe.
While electricity from the new turbine will power the entire park, the chief beneficiary will be Wax Lyrical, the UK’s biggest home fragrance manufacturer and a park tenant for the last 25 years.
Wax Lyrical employs 136 staff at the site and manufactures luxury scented candles and around 1.3 million kWh of electricity each year is used in the company’s manufacturing processes. Chris Rawlinson said: “As site owners we’ve always looked to see how we can improve the business park and help Wax Lyrical and installing a wind turbine seemed to be a win-win situation."
