A PUBLIC toilets run by the Highways Agency along the A590 at Greenodd in Cumbria will be closed for most of November due to a £135,000 overhaul.
The toilet is in a picnic and drivers’ rest area alongside a section of the westbound A590 adjacent to the River Leven as it runs into Morecambe Bay. The agency says the project will involve a complete overhaul of the toilet facilities as well as repairs within the picnic area itself.
Highways Agency project manager Peter Gee said: “This is essential maintenance involving the total refurbishment of the toilet facilities and other parts of the picnic site.
“We realise that a month’s closure of the toilet block will inconvenience some customers but we have timed the work to take place outside the main tourist season when the site is less heavily used.”
