NEW reception class pupils at Over Kellet's Wilson’s Endowed CE School filled their baskets with fruit from a local farmer.
Farmer David Wilson welcomed the pupils to his fruit farm at Leapers’ Rock where the children explored the different fruit trees and soft fruit shrubs.
The children returned to school laden with fruit, juicy plums and cooking apples as well as punnets of berries and baked fruit crumbles with an extra special one for Mr Wilson.
The children’s baking session was assisted by local chef Stuart Walton and Julie Black.
Head teacher Jo Williams said: "I believe it is important for children to know where their food comes from and what goes into producing it. We have much to celebrate locally and it is good that the children have the opportunity to experience different aspects of farming."
