THERE was double delight for Lakes School head girl Nicole Bewley as she learned she had gained a place at her first choice university on her 18th birthday.

Birthday girl Nicole will study primary teaching at Manchester Metropolitan University.

“I was really nervous,” she said. “As results day got closer I started to feel less confident.”

Head boy Josh Graham, 18, was also delighted when he opened his brown envelope to reveal two As and one B, earning him a place at the University of Manchester to study Biochemistry.

“I was quietly confident but at the same time you always worry that you have messed up,” he said.
