FIVE students from The Queen Katherine School will begin an exciting new chapter in their life in September after gaining places at Oxbridge.
Among them will be 18-year-old Laura Day, who will read English Literature at Cambridge after achieving A*s in history, geography and English literature.
“I felt absolutely awful waiting to get online to check if I had got in,” said Laura, from Orton.
“When I found out my mum cried.”
While pleased with the number of students being accepted into Oxbridge, head of sixth form Cathy Earle was keen to point out the success of all pupils.
“While high achievement dominates the headlines the school celebrates the students who make exceptional progress particularly in difficult circumstances,” she said.
Head teacher Gareth Roscoe added: “I am extremely pleased that students can see a reward for all their hard work and efforts.”
