THE head teacher of a school judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted insists the rating will not breed complacency.
Burton Morewood Primary School was given the stamp of approval by the education watchdog following a two-day visit in July.
The school was given the highest grade in all four categories – achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety and leadership.
Head teacher Sue Woodburn said: “This is a tremendous achievement particularly under the new more challenging framework. It places us in a very small and elite group. I am thrilled that the inspectors recognised the tireless hard work, commitment and dedication that are part of school life. I feel proud to be part of such a wonderful team. “

Lead inspector David Byrne wrote: “Teaching is of the highest quality. Lessons inspire pupils and promote their creativity. Parents value the education the school provides and work in partnership with it.”
The school has 188 pupils and became an academy in 2011. Mrs Woodburn added: “Our rating will not bring complacency as we continue to share a desire for improvement.”
